Dr. Sarah Lorenz
Therapist & Clinical Supervisor
Dr. Sarah Lorenz, PsyD, LPC-S, NCC, CBSP, CCTP, CCATP, C-PD has worked in the mental health industry for over 17 years, and has accumulated a tremendous depth and breadth of experience as a therapist in her field. Her experience working in a variety of settings includes a major hospital, a national nonprofit organization, and as part of a multidisciplinary team in private practices.
Dr. Lorenz’s primary areas of expertise spans several clinical areas; anxiety and panic disorders, trauma and grief, personality disorders and their loved ones, complex outpatient psychiatric disorders, and medical rehabilitation topics encompassing acute and chronic illness or injury. Dr. Lorenz applies a variety of theoretical approaches to therapy, including a cognitive behavioral framework (CBT) focusing on a patient’s thoughts and communications leading to difficult feelings, mood, and behaviors. Dr. Lorenz enjoys combining CBT with other evidence-based and out-of-the-box counseling approaches for patients who have not seen optimal results from prior therapy in a collaborative manner. She also incorporates humor, as well as mindfulness, in her work with patients, helping them develop a more insightful, compassionate, and non-judgmental perspective of themselves and their experience. Dr. Lorenz tailors therapy to fit the unique individual needs for each of her patients, and invests the time to get to know each patient personally and become a true patient advocate.
Dr. Sarah Lorenz also enjoys working as a clinical supervisor for new therapists. From providing case conceptualization review to developing a unique professional identity, Dr. Lorenz oversees all aspects of career growth through the mandatory licensure process of comprehensive supervision hours and best practices for every clinician.
Dr. Sarah Lorenz received her Doctorate (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology from California Southern University (Summa Cum Laude) and is a graduate of Wayne State University with a Master’s degree (with honors) in Counselor Education. Dr. Lorenz is a fully Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) in Texas (and in Michigan), and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). Dr. Lorenz obtained a post-master’s certificates in Approved Clinical Supervision from University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Certified Business Solutions Professional (CBSP), Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP), and Certified Personality Disorder Treatment Provider (C-PD).
